Hot-runner controller
HRCslot

Plug-in controllers that are easy to operate are particularly suited for smaller hot runner systems. With the new HRCslot, PMA Prozeß- und Maschinen-Automation in Kassel, Germany presents a single-loop controller with on-board power output stage that can be plugged into a ready-wired 19-inch housing in the required number.
Every HRCslot is fitted with a 16 A power output stage as standard, so it can be connected directly to a heater cartridge in the hot runner. Both leads to the load are protected by easily accessible cartridge fuses. As a result, the HRCslot can also be used for heaters connected between two phases - a common practice in the USA. Fully wired housings with different numbers of slots are available.
On-board digital inputs/outputs provide the necessary coordination with the injection molder. Moreover, communication is possible via Modbus.
Of course, the new controller also features an automatic self-tuning function, start-up function, and other typical HRC features such as boost and standby.
Alarms monitor the temperature tolerance bands, the heating current, and possible SSR short circuits. In case of a sensor break, the controller switches to emergency operation, which prevents an immediate switch-off of the affected zone and provides the time for a fast repair.
With the HRCslot, PMA puts a finishing touch to its range of products for hot-runner control tasks. At the K 2007 Fair in Düsseldorf, PMA's full range of hot-runner controllers will be presented:
- HRC 800, the successful multi-zone system for up to several hundred zones, with trendsetting, practice-oriented new features
- HRC vario mini, the new compact multi-controller system with touch operation
- HRC slot, PMA's latest concept for modular single-loop solutions with integrated power output stage
Further information is given in the flyer "Hot-runner control - any number of zones under control".
